Even the biggest Bollywood stars had to be background dancers before they got acting offers. Even start kids are no exception. They had to start off as background actors to the top stars at that time and now they themselves have become top stars.   • Shahid Kapoor

Shahid Kapoor, even after having his dad Pankaj Kapoor as an ace director and actor, started his Bollywood journey as a background dancer. He was in Shaimak Davar’s troupe and danced behind stars like Aishwarya Rai and Karisma Kapoor. He can be spotted in ‘Kahin Aag Lage Lag Jaye’ of Taal and ‘Mujhko Hui Na Khabar’ of Dil Toh Pagal Hai.


  • Dia Mirza

This name might have come as a surprise to many who thought that Dia landed the movie Rehna  Hai Tere Dil Mein right after winning the Miss Asia Pacific 2000 title. Before she won the title, she had done a number of advertisements and was even a background dancer. She can be spotted in the title song of a South film ‘En Swasa Kaatre’.

Remo Dsouza, the ace choreographer, dance reality show judge and now a director, also started his career as a background dancer. He can be spotted as a background dancer in the song “Meri Mehbooba” behind Shahrukh Khan from the movie Pardes.

Farah Khan might be one of the biggest choreographers, actors, and directors in Bollywood right now, but this star also started her career as a background dancer. She can be seen dancing behind Govinda in the song ‘Hum Hain Naujawan’ from the film Sadaa Suhgan, released in 1986.


  • Sushant Singh Rajput

Sushant Singh Rajput was also a part of Shaimak Davar’s dance troupe. It might come as a surprise to many that Sushant Singh Rajput, the M. S. Dhoni star also started his Bollywood journey as a background dancer. He can be seen performing behind Hrithik Roshan in the title track of Dhoom 2.
